I've discovered, shied away from and finally succumbed to the addiction that is Pinterest.
A few days ago I saw this and knew I had to make one. My sewing room is in a sorry state, especially since I am planning to combine all online sales in one room (plus one other closet.) I am assuming small solutions along the way will lead to a room that is organized as a whole.
I found the exact style of basket shown in the inspiration photo. It is a plastic container made by sterilite. I found mine at Meijer, for $4.49 - large size. There was a cheaper, smaller size for $3.49, but I knew I had a lot of ribbon and wanted to make sure it would all fit, even those not on rolls. I purchased a 1/4 inch dowel rod, also at meijer for $.69. I had the ribbon and spray paint at home. I sprayed several coats inside and out on the basket and let them dry outside. By leaving the dowel rod intact and putting it through the holes of the basket, I was able to paint most of it as I painted the basket. I left it all to dry overnight and then cut the dowel rod to size with some metal snips (I think.) For a little more than $5.00 out of pocket, I now have a small start to the sewing room reorganization.
That is very smart!
